Postgraduate Research Scholar, Tutor, Political Science/History, ANU (1981-84); Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (1984-2016); Chargé d'Affaires, Australian Embassy, Belgrade, Former Yugoslavia (1991-94); Chargé d'Affaires, Australian Embassy, Moscow (1998-99); Australian High Commissioner to Ghana, accredited to Côte d'Ivoire, Gambia, Guinea, Liberia, Senegal, Sierra Leone (2004-08); Australian High Commissioner to Nigeria, accredited to Benin, Cameroon, Gabon, Gambia and Niger (2013-16).

Areas of expertise: International Relations; Comparative Government And Politics; European History (Excl. British, Classical Greek And Roman).

Russia/Ukraine war; Western policy towards Russia post-Cold War; Soviet and Russian nationalities policy; History of Crimea; Russian and European relations with Africa
