The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) is offering scholarships for a two-week course dealing with the issue of the European Union in a broader sense for students wanting to improve their understanding of contemporary European affairs and legislative regulations. The scholarships are available to Australian and New Zealand undergraduate and graduate students studying in the fields of law, politics, international relations, European studies or similar subjects. The course will be held in English. The program is comprised of a course on European affairs and study trips to Saarbruecken and Trier, to Luxembourg (European Court of Justice), to Strasbourg (European Parliament, European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg), and to Germany’s former capital Bonn (visiting DAAD). Selection is based on academic merit. There is no cost for the program: tuition, accommodation and meals for the duration of the program for selected students, as well as excursions, are included.

The course will provide an introduction to the political, economic and environmental issues of European Integration and will run from 5th to 18th December 2010. 

The ANU Centre for European Studies is delighted to support the program by funding three travel grants (up to $2,500 per student).
