A European perspective on the Asia-Pacific

HE Dr Beat Nobs is Switzerland’s Assistant State Secretary for Asia and Pacific (Ambassador), in the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs. He has previously been the Ambassador of Switzerland to New Zealand, the Republic of the Fiji Islands, Samoa, The Kingdom of Tonga, the Cook Islands and Niue, and 1st Swiss Ambassador for Environmental Affairs.

Prior to joining the Swiss Department of Foreign Affairs he studied history, English and media studies in Switzerland and Canada, has both a masters and PhD and speaks five languages. He is married with three sons.

Ambassador Nobs presented the official Swiss strategy for the Asia and the Pacific, in a presentation titled ‘A European perspective on the Asia-Pacific’.
