About

Europe occupies an important place on the research and teaching agenda of The Australian National University (ANU).

As part of an international alliance of research universities, ANU has close links with a number of the leading universities in Europe and many of its individual scholars study Europe, often working in collaboration with those at European universities. The ANU Centre for European Studies (ANUCES) was established to underscore the University-wide commitment to European studies. It took over the role formerly played by the National Europe Centre.

Since establishment in 2001, the Centre has been funded jointly by ANU and the European Commission. This funding promoted European Union studies and dialogue with Europe with an exciting program of activities and research initiatives in partnership with the European Commission. From 2018, ANUCES has been delivering research, education and outreach with the support of the Jean Monnet Actions under the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union.
