SRA22: Call for Submissions

SRA22: Call for Submissions
Friday 23 July 2021

Deadline extended to 17 September 2021, 5 PM UTC.

The year 2020 brought us drought, bushfires, smoke, floods, a pandemic, and widespread economic, social, and environmental change. During SRA22, we will bring participants together to share recent work and explore case studies stemming from these events, with the hope of creating future technology and policy initiatives that are more robust to our uncertain futures.

We are therefore calling for proposals for contributions (talks/panels) and case studies to be presented at the workshop.

We are extending the abstract submission deadline by 2 weeks to 17 September 2021, 5 PM UTC.Outcomes will be announced by 1 October 2021 (UTC).

Please follow our twitter feed, @AlgFuturesLab, for future updates, and contact algorithmic.futures@anu.edu.au with any questions.

CONTRIBUTIONS
You are invited to submit abstracts for talks or panels on topics of relevance to the workshop theme. You will be notified of the format and length of your contribution upon acceptance.

If you are submitting an abstract to this section, please be prepared to:

  • Prerecord a talk (if applicable),
  • Be available to participate and/or answer questions during your allocated slot, and
  • Allow organisers to make your contribution available to other participants and the general public via the AFPL website and other AFPL distribution channels.

We will provide guidance and assistance with video editing for any talks prior to the event.

CASE STUDIES
Case studies must speak to the themes of the workshop and relate to the environmental, social, cultural, and/or economic events stemming from either of the following:

  • Climate change related environmental events of late 2019/2020 (bushfires, drought, flooding, extreme temperatures)
  • COVID19 (Australian and EU-focused case studies preferred)

If selected, you agree to collaborate with the AFPL organisers to:

  • Introduce the case study in podcast form to participants (and the general public),
  • Present the case study and design prompts to help shape collaborative discussions during the workshop, and
  • Present the case study and any outcomes stemming from the workshop in a future ANUCES Briefing Paper.

We may also record portions of the case study discussion for public release.

Any case study submissions that are not selected for this category will be considered for a talk or panel contribution, unless you let us know you would prefer otherwise.

SUBMISSION TEMPLATES
Please use the template document listed below or LaTeX contribution or case study templates for your submissions. If you are using the LaTeX templates, please remember to send both a .pdf and .tex document (plus any additional files needed to compile) for submission.

Please send your submissions to algorithmic.futures@anu.edu.au by 5pm, 17 September 2021 (UTC). You will receive an email acknowledging that we have received your submission.
