Understanding EU Trade: Issues and Challenges

This one-day symposium aimed to update and inform the trade policy community in the nation’s capital as the negotiations for an Australia-EU trade deal get underway.

Missed it? Listen to the audio recording on ANU Soundcloud and download the speaker presentation slides from the bottom of this page.

The program featured an update from the EU Delegation to Canberra together with presentations from international experts in EU trade policy.

The symposium covered trade in goods, trade in services and trade in agriculture, with a special focus on issues and challenges in the negotiations.

Dr Maria Garcia from the University of Bath provided an update on developments in transatlantic trade as part of the international context for the deal.

This EU-funded Erasmus+ Jean Monnet Project aims to help Australian policy makers, industry and civil society understand European Union trade policy. This symposium is designed to support stakeholders from different organisations and sectors who may have little or no familiarity with the EU.

To see the program, download the event flyer at the bottom of this page.

The ANU Centre for European Studies gratefully acknowledges the support of the European Commission in providing this symposium in Canberra.
