Jean Monnet Public Lecture
The National Centre for Research on Europe is sponsoring the visit of Dr Georg Wiessala, Professor of International Relations, University of Central Lancashire, to New Zealand from 20 July to 22 August 2010 under a Jean Monnet teaching module award; in addition to speaking at universities in New Zealand he will also give lectures in Singapore and Australia.
This public lecture at the University of Melbourne offers a critical analysis of the network of relations between the European Union (EU) and Asian countries within a rapidly changing geo-political
context, and against the background of the plans for a new – and controversial - EU Diplomatic Service. Using examples, case studies and interactive materials, the lecture will examine the issues and actors involved in Europe’s strategies towards Asia.
Friday 30 July, 6.00pm–7.00pm, Theatre B, Old Arts Building, University of Melbourne. The Lecture will be followed by a reception.
No RSVP required.
