The Social Policy and Law Shared Database (SPLASH) represents a milestone in the evolution of multiple contextual data projects involving the support and vision of several partner institutions. During the first session of this Jean Monnet Europa Policy Lab, Dr López-Falcón will introduce SPLASH and present its potential in offering access to contextual databases for microdata analysis, a data map of external data sources, and a broad collection of policies related to population developments throughout Europe.
The second part of the Policy Lab will explore the interaction of migration and employment histories on the living conditions of the population 50+ using retrospective microdata from the Survey of Health, Ageing and Retirement in Europe (SHARE). The survey contains detailed information about migration and employment histories, as well as key measures of the living conditions of respondents from up to 27 European countries and Israel. During the presentation, Dr López-Falcón will explore the characteristics of the data sources considered and how they allow answering our main research questions. She will present some preliminary results and discuss how the current project aims to nurture the database project SPLASH.
