DisCERNing Science: Bringing the Collider Experience to Australia
Buried deep under the border between Switzerland and France, CERN’s Large Hadron Collider is the work of 10,000 men and women from across the globe, united in their quest to uncover the fundamental building blocks of our universe. The Collider exhibition invites visitors to ‘step inside the world’s greatest experiment’. But what is actually going on in the Large Hadron Collider, and what could these experiments ultimately tell us?

This discussion brings together distinguished scientists with direct experience of the work of CERN with the ABC’s Science Journalist and Broadcaster Robyn Williams. Panellists will explain the work of CERN (the European Organisation for Nuclear Research), the involvement of Australian scientists in these experiments, and what scientists hope we might learn from this famous particle physics laboratory.

Talk starts at 6pm and is FREE.

Join us before the talk from 5pm for a visit to the Collider exhibition, from Science Museum, London. Come on a journey inside the largest scientific experiment ever constructed in this immersive exhibition that blends theatre, video and sound art with real artefacts from CERN, recreating a visit to the famous particle physics laboratory.

Exhibition tickets will be available at the special rate of $13 for adults and $5 for concession.
