EU Climate Change Agenda & External Trade and Investment (EUOzCC)

The project brings together leading inter-disciplinary researchers to investigate mechanisms for improving implementation of climate change policy responses in EU foreign trade and investment relations. By linking Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), investment in renewables, and international trade and investment, the project seeks to offer more efficient policy solutions towards the achievement of the Paris Agreement objectives. In considering mechanisms for coordinating public and private regulatory responses to climate change, the project will specifically focus on the EU-Australia policy context. It will provide an assessment of the EU’s global sustainability agenda, identify the challenges of bilateral collaboration between two highly divergent policy environments – European and Australian, and bolster shared knowledge in designing more efficient regulatory responses to climate change. Finally, the outcomes of this academic-policy dialogue will provide useful guidelines for the on-going negotiations of the EU-Australia Free Trade Agreement (EUAusFTA).
